Superior Dental Scanning Technology:
The film-to-digital conversion and image processing technology embedded in TigerView was originally developed for the U.S. Department of Defense and has since been modified to meet the special requirements of scanning dental x-rays. In 1996, these techniques underwent extensive evaluation by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and were granted 510(k) permission to market. In September, 1999, the nation's leading independent testing laboratory for dental products and technology conducted, and published, the results of a double-blind study comparing the diagnostic image quality of the leading digital x-ray systems.
TigerView's image quality scored highest and allowed the detection of even the most subtle pathology such as incipient decay. In April, 2001, the TigerView software was endorsed by the American Dental Association. These accomplishments guarantee that consistent diagnostic image quality will be preserved when converting x-ray film to digital. Other dental film-scanning products on the market, are simply implementations of basic photo scanning technology and, by contrast, have not been optimized for the special requirements of dental.
